This course is on an Advanced level and is designed for those individuals wanting a comprehensive understanding of the codes and standards that are included in the API 653 Inspectors certification Program. This course is not designed around becoming an API-653 inspector, its better. We teach you the standards and do not focus on memorization of questions that have appeared on past exam.

  • API Recommended Practice 575, "Inspection of Atmospheric and Low Pressure"
  • API Standard 650, "Welded Steel Tanks for Oil Storage"

  • API Recommended Practice 652, "Lining of Aboveground Petroleum Storage Tank Bottoms"
  • API Standard 653, "Tank Inspection, Repair, Alteration, and Reconstruction"

Who Should Attend
Advanced tank engineers, managers or technical staffs who are dealing with Steel Aboveground Storage Tanks used in the Petrochemical Industry who would also benefit from having a more complete understanding of the tank construction and inspection standards.

About the Instructor
Mr. Cornell is a Tank Specialist and Industry Consultant. He has coordinated in-house API Standard 653 courses on tank inspection and repair as well as providing training on API Standards 650 and 620. He is an expert on the Appendix “C” and “H” of the API-650 Standard. Mr. Cornell is the Senior Associate Staff Member for the Transportation Safety Institute through which He is under contract to provide training to Federal and State U.S.D.O.T. Breakout Tank Inspectors on the applicable tanks regulations as related to Above Ground Storage Tanks. Mr. Cornell serves on the API Pressure Vessels & Tanks Subcommittee Fabrication.
